After facing a technical crisis that started on Tuesday evening, Barclays has announced that all of its banking services and payment systems are fully operational once again. The bank pointed to issues affecting some of its UK customers making payments from their accounts and deposits into them.
Most recently, other major firms like McDonald’s and Sainsbury’s have suffered from similar crises. One disappointed and concerned Barclays customer expressed on social media that this was not a joke or glitch but that it could significantly impact the livelihoods of account holders, who could be left with inaccessible or unreachable money.
Up to and beyond 50 million payments per month are taken care of by Barclays, and close to 20 million customers use the bank in the UK.
The disruptive outage was closely monitored by DownDetector, which said accounts of Barclays disruptions started coming in at around 9:15 pm on Tuesday evening
