Ahead of the May elections, residents in Liverpool and the surrounding City Region have been reminded to prepare for the forthcoming polls. Citizens will be asked to vote in two major elections; for the Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor and the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner on Thursday 2 May.
Before being issued with a ballot paper, local residents are required to present photo identification when voting at a polling station. Voters are also advised to check before voting, the location of their polling station.
Fanatics are only permitted to provide certain types of ID. The acceptable forms of ID include a passport issued by the UK, a driving license issued in the UK, an older person’s travel pass, and lastly, an expired photo ID contingent on voter recognition. Polling cards detailing the full list of acceptable ID are delivered in late March and early April.
Voters may require a Voter Authority Certificate if they do not have an acceptable form of photo ID; this will be accepted if requested before the deadline of 5 pm on Wednesday 24 April.
To avoid any complications linked to the application process, voters are advised to apply as soon as possible and not wait for the closing hours of the 24 April deadline. Polling stations situated throughout Liverpool will open from 7 am to 10 pm on Thursday 2 May.
Results of the British May elections, scheduled to take place on Thursday 2 May, will be declared on Saturday 4 May
