The world-famous movie, Footloose, turns 40 this year, and Kevin Bacon, the star of the cult classic, will return to Payson High School to attend the school’s final prom. The students of Payson High School in Utah where Footloose was filmed, have been campaigning to get Bacon to visit their town for several months, with a social media campaign featuring the hashtag #BaconToPayson.

Payson High School is relocating to a new location later this year, leaving its current home of Main Street, Payson, Utah, for the first time since 1967. The current location is well-known as the site of Bomont High, the high school featured in Footloose, an iconic movie that is still loved by many.

The students at Payson High School, who have recreated several scenes from the movie on TikTok, learned the iconic Footloose dance, and organised numerous flash mobs to campaign for Kevin Bacon’s attendance at their prom, finally got their wish. Bacon shared the good news with the students via the Today show and expressed his admiration for their amazing campaign.

“I have been so impressed with everything that’s been going on there with this crazy idea to get me to come back. I’ve been amazed at the work that all of you have been putting into this, with the musical and the flash mobs and the re-creations,” he said.

Bacon also expressed gratitude for the campaign’s efforts to give back to the community and their involvement with SixDegrees.org, his foundation, which connects people to charities and other organisations.

The journey to bring Bacon to the school from where Footloose was shot has been long and difficult, but with the hard work of the students, the actor has agreed to attend the high school prom and the school’s efforts to achieve its dreams has come to fruition, with the students dreaming large and succeeding
