A woman was sexually assaulted near a park in East Dunbartonshire. The victim, who is 70 years old, was walking near Colquhoun Park in Bearsden when the attack took place at around 5:15 pm on Friday. Police have stepped up patrols, calling it an “imperative” to catch the perpetrator.
The area is a busy one, and although police have already received information from several sources, they have urged witnesses who have not yet come forward to do so. They are particularly keen to hear from people who may have taken photos or video in the area around Station Road when the crime was committed.
The attacker is described as being in his 20s, white, stocky, and wearing dark-coloured clothes and trainers. He had a disheveled appearance and receding brown hair and was between 5ft 8in and 5ft 9in tall.
Detective Inspector Neil Guy has appealed for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward. He emphasized the importance of finding the individual responsible and bringing him to justice.
The local Chief Inspector, Brian Fraser, has also assured residents that additional officers are on patrol to reassure the public that there will be a strong police presence in the area. Anyone with information is urged to contact the police
