Las Vegas had a special welcome from Bruce Springsteen who returned to the city on March 22, delivering an energetic performance that included a rendition of Elvis Presley’s ‘Viva Las Vegas’, a surprise inclusion to his setlist. The performance also featured two other songs that were rarely played in recent years, namely 1992’s ‘Roll of the Dice’ and 1978’s ‘Racing in the Street’.
The Las Vegas show was the second of the 2024 leg of Springsteen’s tour that had to be postponed last year due to the singer being treated for peptic ulcer disease. The tour resumed on March 19 in Phoenix where he played a collection of songs from his entire discography spanning from his first album ‘Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.’ to his most recent record ‘Only the Strong Survive’ released in 2022.
Springsteen’s exciting rendition of ‘Viva Las Vegas’ was captured in a video that has since gone viral on social media. However, the Boss did not stop at his performance in the city of Las Vegas, as he is expected to return to this side of the pond later in the year for his 2024 UK
and Ireland tour. The tour had been previously announced, with tickets made available for purchase.
Aside from his recent performance, Springsteen has been making headlines in recent weeks, including his appearance in a Mark Knopfler’s charity re-recording of ‘Going Home’. The track was recorded alongside other music legends such as Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones and Queen’s Brian May. He also made a cameo appearance in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm and announced a new career-spanning compilation album titled ‘Best Of Bruce Springsteen’, scheduled for release on April 19, 2024, via Sony Music.
