Legendary hip-hop group Cypress Hill are set to perform with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall on July 10th. This comes almost thirty years after the band’s fictional booking with the orchestra on a classic episode of The Simpsons, titled Homerpalooza. The band has performed similar shows in the United States, where they played three gigs with a symphony orchestra last year.
Conducted by Troy Miller, the R.A.H performance will feature unique orchestral arrangements of Cypress Hill’s celebrated tracks, including “Insane in the Brain” and “I Wanna Get High.” The Cypress Hill set will also include hits from their recently released documentary, Insane in the Brain, which explores the group’s impact on hip-hop culture.
In a statement, Cypress Hill themselves said they were “thrilled” to be performing at such a prestigious venue alongside the London Symphony Orchestra. The LSO’s Managing Director, Kathryn McDowell, added that fans may have deemed the event “a pipedream” after years of speculation, but it had “finally” come to fruition.
