Conor McGregor was supposed to star in an entire season of the television series Vikings before the project fell apart. McGregor, who made his acting debut in Amazon Prime Video’s remake of Road House with Jake Gyllenhaal, recently revealed in an interview with JOE that Road House was not his planned acting debut. Instead, he was to make his debut in the popular series Vikings, but he pushed back his involvement in the project, and eventually, the production moved on without him.

Despite Vikings’ popularity, with a sequel being picked up by Netflix, McGregor did not get his chance to be a part of the series. McGregor said, “I had a few things teed up but I just kept pushing it along down the line, but I just stayed in the fight business. I always said ‘I’m in the fight business, not the movie business.’ Ultimately I ended up letting people down over that because I was teed up to do a full season, and it just never happened.”

Instead, McGregor made his debut in the Road House remake, where he played Knox, a ruthless henchman who clashes with Gyllenhaal’s Elwood Dalton in the film. With his role in the movie, McGregor can now claim to be the highest-paid first-time actor in history, breaking several records in the process.

Despite his success on the big screen, McGregor has stated that he has no interest in taking up another acting role for now, as he has his sights set on returning to the UFC in July 2021 after a long hiatus due to injury. With his first acting role in the bag, McGregor can now focus on his fighting career
