Several renowned musicians, including Matt Helders, Beck, and St. Vincent, came together for the recent ‘Josh Homme & Friends’ charity event. Fan-recorded clips of their performances have surfaced on social media platforms. The concert featured an array of talented artists, and St. Vincent took centre stage to perform her stripped-back rendition of Patsy Cline’s ‘Crazy’. Meanwhile, Beck joined QOTSA to perform a cover of Seals and Crofts’ ‘Summer Breeze’. Arctic Monkeys’ Matt Helders was also spotted playing drums for a live cover of Gerry Rafferty’s ‘Right Down The Line’.
Other notable performers of the night included The Kills, Jesse Hughes, Bill Burr, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith, Justin Willman, and Sarah Silverman, among others. Additionally, Dave Grohl performed an unreleased song he composed for Josh Homme for the same charity gig. He shared, “I thought, ‘I’m gonna write a song about him and embarrass him in front of all of his friends’… by actually singing about how much I f—ing love you, man. And I’ve never even sung it out loud.”
Recently, Homme expressed his desire to reunite his Them Crooked Vultures supergroup with Dave Grohl and Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones. “I would love to get the band back together”, he said in a video response to a Reddit AMA, “But it’s sort of not my job to put Vultures back together, that’s Dave [Grohl]’s job. My job is to dance around, write words, and try to write some music.”
