In a recent interview with The Times, Lisa Dillon spoke out about her ex-husband Patrick Stewart’s portrayal of their relationship in his memoir, “Making It So: A Memoir.” The two were together for nearly five years from 2003 through 2007. They initially met while co-starring in a production of “The Master Builder,” which Dillon started in at age 23, while Stewart was 62 and married to American television and film producer Wendy Neuss.

Stewart opened up about his relationship with Dillon in his memoir. He admitted to having cheated on his wife with a younger woman, calling their relationship “relatively short” and claiming his two failed marriages to be his greatest regret. Dillon was upset by the actor’s characterization of their relationship, which she says was not just a silly affair that broke up a marriage. They were able to maintain a good friendship following the end of their romantic partnership, but Dillon claims, “I’m still in a place of turmoil with it all. In my heart of hearts, I always felt he would honour me properly if he were to write about me.”

Dillon was also hurt by Stewart’s suggestion that he never truly loved her, writing about his warning from an older actor decades ago that if you keep saying “I love you” to someone in a play, you can drift into believing the sentiment to be true. Dillon said that Stewart “relocated his life from Los Angeles to be with me in England and we lived together almost immediately. Everybody had to be in the know because we were going to live this mature, loving life together. And I felt very loved by him.” She also admitted to feeling vulnerable for the first time, questioning what a 62-year-old found attractive about her at 23.

The BBC actress has received support from fans on social media, with many criticising Stewart for his comments. Dillon did not comment further on her ex-husband’s memoir or their relationship. In other film news, Nicolas Cage has confirmed that he is in talks to star in the live-action “Spider-Man Noir” TV series
