Logic1000 – ‘Mother’ review: powerful, life-affirming dancefloor heaters

Logic1000 has released her first album entitled ‘Mother’, and it’s an impressive display of her skills in the dance music genre. Samantha Poulter, also known as Logic1000, has been in the music industry for some time, but she has always questioned whether or not she deserved her success. Through self-discovery and life-changing events, Poulter finally understands and accepts her accomplishments and shares them through her 10-track album.

‘Mother’ offers songs that are both melodically precise and sonically gratifying. As a nod to motherhood’s transformative experience for her, Poulter has maintained the emotional and melody-led style of her earlier work throughout the new album. The opener, ‘From Within,’ contains racing drums and steamy synth passages, creating an impressive introduction to the rest of the album’s content.

Recorded in Poulter and her partner Tom McAllister’s Berlin home, ‘Mother’s’ tracks maintain Poulter’s renowned high-energy sound. ‘All U Like’ offers a richly textured melody and an overarching sense of euphoria, while collaborations with Rochelle Jordan on ‘Promises’ and Kayla Blackmon on ‘Self To Blame’ reflect a commercial deep-house twist.

Continuing to push the limits of her sound, Poulter collaborated with Venezuelan singer and producer MJ Nebreda to create the track ‘Every Lil’. The song explores Latin influences and brilliantly showcases Poulter’s musical talents. ‘Can’t Let Go’ is another groovy club number that maintains high strings, melodic chords and catchy vocal samples that remind the listener of the nostalgic rave scene of Chicago house music.

Logic1000’s openness to a wide range of influences, such as UK funky, disco, and ‘90s house has produced an outstanding debut album. ‘Mother’ highlights the various ways dance can be enjoyed, making it a fantastic addition to any music lover’s collection. The album was released on March 22, 2021, under the Therapy/Because Music record label
