South Korean entertainment company CJ ENM has announced that KCON, its annual K-pop festival, will be expanding to new countries and regions this year. The event will take place in five different locations in 2024. The first-ever festival in Hong Kong will occur at the AsiaWorld-Expo on March 30 and 31. KCON will also be returning to Japan starting May 10 to 12 while Los Angeles from July 26 to 28. The popular K-pop festival will also hold events in Europe and Saudi Arabia in the second half of 2024, with further details to be revealed later.
Joon-beom Sim, Head of Music Entertainment at CJ ENM, stated that KCON has not only promoted artists’ global expansion, but also led small and medium-sized businesses to advance overseas. Over the years, KCON has become an influential festival in which K-culture and K-lifestyle can be promoted and experienced. “As the platform that unites and interacts with global K-pop fans, KCON this year will continue building on its legacy as a K-pop festival that reflects K-POP’s current status and proposes newness,” Sim added.
In 2023, KCON was managed in four regions, including Thailand, Japan, Los Angeles, and Saudi Arabia. The 2024 KCON locations and dates are as follows: Hong Kong on March 30 and 31, Japan from May 10 to 12, Los Angeles on July 26-28, and Europe and Saudi Arabia later in the year. The locations and dates for the KCON Europe and KCON Saudi Arabia have not been confirmed.
