Fred again.., Four Tet and Skrillex help raise $20,000 for NYC’s City Soul Bus

The City Soul Bus, a converted school bus used as a DIY stage in New York, was recently robbed of its valuable production equipment. Just two days before its “biggest Riddim Bus event yet,” the crew was left without the essential tools needed to host sets on board. Responding quickly, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to raise $20,000 for the crew to replace the stolen equipment.

Within 48 hours, Fred again.., Four Tet, and Skrillex had all donated to the campaign, helping it reach its target. According to Resident Advisor, the trio donated £$4,200 each, raising a combined total of $12,600 between them. City Soul Bus founder Alan Gibson expressed his gratitude, saying “They really saved our bacon.”

In February 2023, the grassroots project famously partnered with The Lot Radio for a surprise set in New York’s Times Square. The DJs took over the heart of the city, making history and drawing an impressive crowd. Despite the recent setback of equipment theft, Gibson said, “We’re just gonna go right back to partying…we’ll keep going and doing what we do to help to bring all of the communities together, bring joy to people and bring the relief that we think everybody needs.”

Thanks to the generosity of a few high-profile donors, the City Soul Bus and its crew can continue to bring joy and community together in their unique and unconventional way
