Roundhouse, the Camden music venue, has launched the application process for its 2024/26 Resident Artist Programme. The residency provides recipients with customised creative and development opportunities to help advance their music careers.
Artists who are selected will receive monthly workshops, mentoring, and masterclasses. They will also be given the opportunity to perform at the Roundhouse. The package also includes unlimited access to state-of-the-art industry-standard facilities such as the art creative studios and rehearsal spaces on site.
“Learn from industry experts, rub shoulders with those in the know, develop your skills and make connections with a community of like-minded artists,” a press release states, emphasizing the chance for emerging artists to benefit from the program.
Musicians aged 18-25 are invited to submit their applications by May 7 2024. During the selection process, shortlisted applicants will be required to audition before the final selection is made. Applicants must be available for workshops, which take place on the last Monday evening of each month.
The venue is also home to several opportunities for creatives aged 11-30, including Young Creative Memberships, and workshops held throughout the year at Roundhouse Works. Roundhouse Works unveiled in 2022 is a brand new creative hub with a 15,000 capacity to foster opportunities for freelance creatives and entrepreneurs.
Despite a rise in the cost of living crisis that has affected many UK venues, Roundhouse has reported an 11% increase in performance bookings since 2022/23, according to Conference News. Head of Events, Rhiân Pressley, said that people with specific dates in mind should book at least 12 months in advance as they anticipate a 42% increase next year in confirmed contracts.
Roundhouse has seen many famous artists grace their stages in recent years, including Bicep, Fred Again, Overmono, and Barry Can’t Swim, amongst others.
