After years of speculation regarding who will replace Daniel Craig as the iconic British spy James Bond, it has been reported that the role has finally been offered to Aaron Taylor-Johnson. EON Productions, which produces the Bond films, has reportedly offered the job to the Kick-Ass and Tenet star. It is believed that Taylor-Johnson will sign the contract in the coming days after the formal offer was made.
A source stated: “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back. As far as EON is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.” Many had hoped that Idris Elba or Henry Cavill would take on the role, but it seems that Taylor-Johnson has won the coveted position.
In August, the actor remained vague during an interview with Esquire about the possibility of stepping into the role. “I just focus on the things I can have in my hands right now. What’s in front of me right now,” he said.
Daniel Craig starred as James Bond in five movies, from 2006’s Casino Royale to last year’s No Time To Die. For his performance in Casino Royale, Craig was nominated for a BAFTA for Best Actor.
Taylor-Johnson’s wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson, is also involved in the film industry, having recently directed an upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic titled Back to Black. The movie will feature Marisa Abela as the late singer and stars Jack O’Connell and Eddie Marsan. It is scheduled for release in the UK and Ireland on 12th April.
Overall, there has been much anticipation and conjecture surrounding who would take on the role of James Bond, with fans eagerly awaiting the official announcement of the new actor to play the iconic British spy
