British rock musicians Carl Barât of The Libertines and Kyle Falconer of The View have announced a new “songwriting getaway” course that will take place in Spain later this year. Set to run between September 8 and 15 and hosted by La Sierra Casa, a luxury songwriting camp in El Xinorlet, the intensive course will help participants gain confidence and tips to write successful songs. Attendees will come away with between three and four songs and have the chance to pitch to major publishers, Downtown Music. The songwriting camp will also feature appearances from a vast range of high-end industry experts who will be there to share their tips from recording to promotion and management.
Those interested need to apply via La Sierra Casa’s website. The two musicians posted about the course on their social media pages. The course’s poster features Barât as a “very special guest,” and Falconer as the course presenter. La Sierra Casa has described itself as “an authentic cave house nestled amongst the golden hillsides of Southeast Spain in the quiet town of El Xinorlet”.
Meanwhile, Barât is also set to perform live as part of The Libertines later this year, with a headline show in Brighton on July 28 and a UK tour starting in Belfast at the end of September. The Libertines announced that their new album, All Quiet on the Eastern Esplanade, which is set for release on April 5, will be the long-mooted follow-up to 2015’s Anthems for Doomed Youth. The band’s previous single, ‘Oh Shit’ was released earlier this month, and more details about their upcoming performances are available on their website
