Lichelle Marie Laws, also known as Boss, a Detroit-born rapper and one of the first women to sign with Def Jam, has died at age 54 after a battle with kidney failure, as reported by The Detroit News. Boss passed away on Monday, March 11th at Ascension Providence Hospital in Detroit’s Southfield. She had suffered from renal disease since 2011 and needed a kidney transplant, having also experienced a “major stroke and seizure” in 2017.
