The mural was discovered on Hornsey Road in Finsbury, and was shared on Banksy’s official Instagram account on Monday.
The enigmatic street artist has long been known for his anonymous public displays, often political in nature. Banksy’s works have been the subject of much speculation, and his true identity has remained a mystery. However, in the aforementioned interview, he confirmed his previously rumored name to be “Robin Banks.”
The Finsbury Park tree mural is the latest in a string of public artworks that have been attributed to Banksy in recent years. In 2018, he created a mural in New York’s Bowery neighbourhood that commented on the city’s homelessness crisis.
