Musician Neneh Cherry will release a memoir entitled “A Thousand Threads” in October of this year. Cherry shared the news on Twitter, writing, “Turned a new leaf into another chapter! 3×20 = now I’m 60 and what a magnificent birthday it’s been!” Cherry went on to describe the book as feeling like giving birth and stated that she was “incredibly excited” to share it. “A Thousand Threads” is available for pre-order and is set to detail Cherry’s life, from growing up with musician parents in rural Sweden to working with a series of groundbreaking punk bands.

2022 saw Cherry honored with the Icon Award at the BandLab NME Awards. Cherry’s daughter Mabel presented her with the prize and sang her praises. “`I’m so blessed to have you as a mum,’ Mabel said. ‘And you’ll always probably be that tiny bit cooler than me! You’re a role model to so many, and my biggest inspiration.'” Cherry expressed gratitude for the award before jokingly stating that it gave her a new form of leverage over her family.

In their four-star review of Cherry’s most recent album, “The Versions,” NME called it “a consistently interesting set that reminds you that Neneh Cherry didn’t just come up with visionaries like The Slits and Massive Attack, but truly became one in her own right.” “The Versions” was released in 2022.

Cherry’s memoir is set to chronicle her journey from her rural Swedish upbringing to global fame. It will detail her time with groundbreaking punk bands, her transition into motherhood, and her inspiring collaborations and lifelong friendships. “A Thousand Threads” is sure to add to Cherry’s legacy as a true icon
