Two people have been shot with crossbow bolts in separate but linked attacks in Shoreditch, east London. The Metropolitan Police has increased its presence in the area and is urging anyone with information to come forward. A 44-year-old woman crossing Club Row was hit in the head on March 4 at 7:44 pm. She mistook the bolt for a stone. The second attack on Thursday saw a 20-year-old man struck in the neck around 200 feet away from the first attack.

Both victims were treated for their injuries in hospital. A poster appealing for information has been put up near where the first attack occurred. It urges people to help get the attacker to face justice. The Metropolitan Police is working to identify a suspect and says due to the nature and location of both incidents, they have been linked. They are working with Tower Hamlets Council to “use as many resources as possible to help the investigation.”

Residents have expressed their shock and fear at the attacks. Susanna Kow, who chairs the Boundary Tenants and Residents Association said she wished the police had put more emphasis on the first incident when it happened, and now all the parents in the area are “really, really spooked.” Jake Lowry, a local resident, said the woman may have been with her children, making the attack “doubly terrifying.” There is a primary school just on Arnold Circus, and many young families live in the area.

The Metropolitan Police has said that investigators are urgently working to identify a suspect, and they are urging anyone with information to come forward. Meanwhile, the police force is working with the council to use all available resources to help the investigation
