Liverpool City Council is investing £4.6m to enhance the cleanliness levels of the city. 18 new streetscene staff were employed, funded by the new investment, to focus on litter hotspots, with more staff being employed to crack down on fly-tipping and similar issues. A campaign called Keep Liverpool Tidy Spring Clean is also set to launch, featuring over 50 community events over two weeks. The campaign kick-starts tomorrow with a litter pick in Dovecot, where the council is encouraging its citizens to join in the organized events or create their own. Liverpool has experienced a 200% surge in community litter-picking since it joined forces with Keep Britain Tidy in 2022, and some groups are collecting over five tonnes of waste a week.
