Slipknot’s original vocalist, Anders Colsefni, claimed that the re-recording of the band’s 1996 demo tape ‘Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.’ was shared without his permission. On his YouTube channel, the demo tape was revealed on March 14, and it was recorded with KAOSIS, a band from New Zealand, who Colsefni performed with last year. Colsefni had confirmed that he would perform the demo tape in its entirety, with, frontman Corey Taylor‘s approval. While the audio recordings were being reviewed, KAOSIS recorded, mixed, and produced the updated version in their home country, and Colsefni recorded his vocals back in Iowa.
After the video was posted, it was taken down only after the video was up for a brief period of time. In an Instagram post, Colsefni stated that the revised version was NOT a finished product and was shared without his consent. He announced that he would be canceling the upcoming ‘Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.’ tour and instead focusing on properly re-recording the album.
Colsefni added that ‘Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.’ is more extensive than just himself and those who created it. He stated that due to the album’s significance in the history of metal, the project should be treated with the utmost care and respect.
Colsefni had arranged with KAOSIS to provide fans with an updated version of the album as a tribute to Joey Jordison and Paul Gray, who were former members of the band who had died. Gray died at the age of 38 in 2010, and Jordison died in 2021 at the age of 46.
Painface, Colsefni’s band and KAOSIS, had already played a show together this year on January 27. According to rumours, Slipknot is expected to announce their new drummer soon, and fans are keen to hear information about their lost album ‘Look Outside Your Window.
