Milan’s Tempio del Futuro Perduto to throw debut three-day festival in Berlin

Tempio del Futuro Perduto, the team behind a cultural institution and venue in Milan, have announced that they will be launching their debut music and arts festival in Berlin. The festival, aptly named Tempio, aims to bring together the cultural powerhouses of Milan and Berlin through music and art. Scheduled for late August, the Berlin takeover festival will feature 130 global acts including DJ Bone from Detroit and Dutch-Surinamese DJ Parrish Smith. The festival will also include art exhibitions, dance and yoga sessions, an anti-mafia workshop and panel discussions.

Festival-goers will need to contribute a used book or clothing item to gain entry into any Tempio event, thereby supporting an important cause. Founder Tommaso Dapri believes that the festival offers an opportunity to connect with people beyond just music while addressing important topics at the same time. The festival will take place at Alte Münze, Kulturquartier starting from August 30 to September 1.

Tempio del Futuro Perduto started as a squat using the abandoned space for parties and cultural events. After five years of operations, the venue was finally recognised as a cultural institution by Italian law. The Berlin takeover festival marks another significant moment for the emerging brand, which seeks to bridge the gap between cultural hubs around the world.

Alte Münze, the festival venue, is a former coining manufacturing facility now transformed into a multi-disciplinary arts space by Spreewerkstätten. Located on the foundations of the Medieval Krögel district of Old Berlin, the site houses indoor and outdoor event spaces accommodating various creative projects.

Tickets for Tempio start at €5 per day and are available now on their website. The festival promises to offer visitors a taste of two of Europe’s cultural jewels: Berlin and Milan
