Sam Fender has been dropping hints online about new music, potentially featuring a collaboration with Adam Granduciel from The War On Drugs. Following his recent partnership with Noah Kahan on the hit single ‘Homesick’ and the release of his solo single ‘Iris’ in January, speculation surrounding Fender has been increasing. He has since shared footage of himself in the studio with Granduciel, accompanied by sound engineers, producers, and other musicians, indicating that fans can expect a collaborative track to be released soon.

On his Instagram page on March 14th, Fender is seen in a studio in America with Granduciel. Fans have been given a sneak peek of the upcoming song through brief snippets of the track, which suggest that the song will have the signature Fender sound, dominated by energetic riffs.

News of Fender’s potential collaboration with Granduciel follows special editions of commemorative St James’ Park picture discs. Fender teased these special records via posters and QR codes scattered across his hometown. It coincided with his huge shows at Newcastle’s St James’ Park stadium, which saw Fender invite AC/DC’s Brian Johnson as a surprise guest.

In an interview with NME, Fender hinted that his new material was sounding more “singer-songwriter” to him. He also expressed his surprise at securing the St James’ Park gigs, stating that “it’s a really, really big thing for us.” Meanwhile, The War On Drugs recently announced a UK and European tour, with two slots at Royal Albert Hall. Granduciel is also set to join forces with The National for a co-headlined US tour
