Anders Colsefni, the original frontman for Slipknot, has released a revised version of the band’s 1996 demo tape, ‘Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.’ The updated version was created in cooperation with New Zealand band KAOSIS, who Colsefni previously toured with in 2023, performing the demo’s entirety with current Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor’s blessing. KAOSIS mixed and produced the new recording in New Zealand, while Colsefni recorded his vocals in Iowa. The new version of ‘Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.’ is dedicated to the two founding members of Slipknot who have passed away, Joey Jordison and Paul Gray.
In a statement to Blabbermouth, Colsefni revealed that “This record is dedicated to Joey [Jordison] and Paul [Gray], my eternal brothers. This project completes their legacy for the original Crowz. This important part of their heritage can now be heard by the Maggot generation of the ‘KNOT family. I miss them both deeply every day and I hope that this tribute to them honors their memory and our ever-lasting friendship. Long live the ‘KNOT.”
Colsefni’s band Painface and KAOSIS reunited on stage on January 27, marking the first Painface gig since 2015. In October 2023, Colsefni performed with Mushroomhead frontman Waylon Reavis, leading to the resolution of the long-running rival between the two bands. Slipknot founding member Clown was recently interviewed by NME about the 25th anniversary of the band’s self-titled 1999 debut album. Clown discussed the deaths of Jordison and Gray, stating that “they weigh heavy on my heart at the moment, and there are so many things happening in my mind about yesteryear. I remember it like it was yesterday.”
Slipknot fans can look forward to the eventual release of the band’s experimental album ‘Look Outside Your Window,’ which was discussed in an NME interview with Taylor last year. The album has yet to be released due to conflicting release schedules, but is hopefully coming out in the near future
