Ewan McGregor has said that he is waiting for news from Disney about whether or not there will be a second season of the Star Wars spin-off show, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, McGregor said that he had “no news to tell,” adding, “I’m waiting for the call. I don’t know that it’s happening.” The show debuted in May 2022, and followed Obi-Wan’s journey to rescue a kidnapped Princess Leia.
Though there has been no official word yet on a second season, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has hinted that the show could return. “I never say never, because there’s always the possibility,” she said. “That show was so well-received and [director] Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job. Meanwhile, McGregor’s wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who co-starred in Birds of Prey, appeared on The Tonight Show alongside him and revealed that a new season of Ahsoka is in the works. The girlfriend of Jedi Padawan Caleb Dume spoke about her excitement for more episodes of the upcoming series, which portrays the character after the events of Star Wars Rebels.
McGregor had previously revealed that he would be open to reprising the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, stating that “it feels really good” to return to the character. He explained, “There’s something that’s opened up in my heart again.” Of the possibility of a second season, the actor said, “Hopefully, someone might think we should do some more…”
