As Glastonbury announce their 2024 lineup, fans of pop icons Coldplay are left questioning the future of the band, after lead singer Chris Martin revealed in 2021 that their last record would be released in 2025 and that they would only tour after that. This has left many fans wondering if their upcoming Glastonbury slot is a sign of the last of Coldplay. This year’s installment of Glastonbury is set to boast headliners such as Dua Lipa, Shania Twain and SZA, alongside the already announced Coldplay.

Chris Martin revealed the band’s plans to stop making music as a band during an interview, stating that after their last proper record in 2025, they will only tour, potentially collaborating with other artists. However, the band are set to debut at Glastonbury for the fifth time, previously headlining the festival in 2002, 2005, 2011, and 2016. At their last performance, Coldplay shocked the crowd by bringing out The Bee Gees’ Barry Gibb and festival founder Michael Eavis to perform alongside them.

Though the last record by the band has yet to be released, not much has been said about the upcoming record since it was teased back in early 2023. The band has also called on their fans to add their voices to One World, one of the new songs they plan to release. Coldplay is expected to play songs from their latest album, Music of the Spheres, during their Glastonbury set, along with fan favorites like Clocks, Yellow, The Scientist, and Paradise.

The Glastonbury 2024 lineup also includes acts such as LCD Soundsystem, Little Simz, Burna Boy, PJ Harvey, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Kiwanuka, Janelle Monae, Olivia Dean, Paloma Faith, and Keane, among many others, and will take place at Worthy Farm in Somerset, England from Wednesday, June 26 to Sunday, June 30. General tickets for the event sold out within an hour, though a re-sale of unwanted and unpaid-for tickets will be held next month for those registered. Shania Twain has also teased what to expect from her legends slot performance, saying that it was the “honour of [her] life”
