Music company Fender has teamed up with game developers Epic Games to bring two iconic guitars to Fortnite. The Fender Stratocaster, famously used by Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain and The Beatles’ George Harrison, and the Precision Bass Electric Guitar will be available to buy from the item shop and can be used in both the standard battle royale and the free-to-play game Fortnite Festival. The Stratocaster will be available in black, fiesta red and lake placid blue, while the Precision Bass will come in black, buttercream and tidepool colourways.
Epic Games has previously worked with many music artists and recognises that music and Fortnite go hand-in-hand. Its partnership with Fender cements this commitment to work with music’s most forward-thinking brands. Fortnite Festival, launched late last year, is a rhythm-based game similar to Rock Band or Guitar Hero, and allows players to perform with their favorite songs and artists.
Season one of Fortnite Festival was headlined by The Weeknd, and season two saw Lady Gaga enter the game, having previously been unsure of what it was. Fortnite recently launched its Chapter 5 Season 2 update, which features Greek gods, although the game went offline for several hours due to unexpected issues during planned downtime.
Elsewhere in the gaming world, developers of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are considering expanding the fan-favourite minigame Queen’s Blood, according to director Naoki Hamuguchi. He explained that Square Enix had not yet made a decision on its future development but hoped to consider further expansions
