Sheffield police detectives are investigating a murder following the death of a 24-year-old male at The Ponderosa in Netherthorpe. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene in response to reports of a stabbing at around 4:30 am GMT on March 6th. According to a spokeswoman for the South Yorkshire Police department, the victim died at the scene of the attack. While the man’s identity has not yet been established, family members are being tended to by law enforcement authorities.
Officers are withholding further information regarding the circumstances of the attack, but it is known that a police cordon remains in place at the park near Oxford Street. The investigation is ongoing and police officers have called for help from the public, urging anyone with information relating to the incident to come forward.
In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said that detectives were “making extensive inquiries and working around the clock to ascertain the identity of those responsible for this attack and bring them to justice.” Anyone with relevant information about the incident, regardless of how small or seemingly insignificant, is urged by police to come forward.
