Jessica Skye, a yoga teacher and DJ based in Los Angeles, has announced her upcoming sophomore album titled ‘Fluō State 002.’ The album is designed to merge the worlds of wellness and electronic music, inspired by the ebb and flow of yogic energy. The title of the album is rooted in the Latin term for ‘flow’, and it takes listeners on a journey of deep, melodic soundscapes, ambient noises, and groove-centric dance cuts that help guide the audience through the sense of flow.
The album, which is set to release on May 10, with the intention of coinciding with Mental Health Awareness month/week, pays homage to the “escapist” roots of music. The second single from the album, ‘Mindgames,’ is already available, being launched on International Women’s Day. The sound of the album borrows inspiration from Jessica’s 14-year career as a yoga teacher, implementing ethereal vocals, percussives, and strings to create a melody-driven groove that helps the audience escape.
Jessica has stated that she thinks of DJing and teaching yoga as being remarkably similar, and they often go hand in hand. Both roles are holding a space for people, understanding how to read a room, and having an energy exchange. When practicing yoga or while dancing, people let the music control their energy, move with the beat and free themselves through dance and expression.
Starting with music as the medium to support a wellness practice, Jessica highlights the importance of mental health in the music industry and how it directly affects every person involved. She is currently exploring ways to help and support her peers in the industry.`
‘Fluō State 002’ is currently available for pre-order, with the complete album to release on May 10. ‘Mindgames,’ the album’s second single, is already out and available for streaming on all major platforms
