Jack Antonoff’s father, Ricky Antonoff, made a surprise appearance with his son’s band Bleachers at their New York gig. The gig was in honour of the band’s forthcoming self-titled album, set for release on Friday, March 8. The band began the show with the debut of the unreleased track ‘I Am Right on Time’ from their upcoming LP. They performed ‘Modern Girl’ followed by another live debut of the unheard track ‘Jesus Is Dead’. They then performed ‘How Dare You Want More?’ from their 2021 LP ‘Take The Sadness Out Of Saturday Night’, alongside Ricky Antonoff on the acoustic guitar.
The band had a few surprises up their sleeves; they also performed ‘Me Before You’ and ‘Tiny Moves’ – marking their live debuts, and the most recent singles to be released from ‘Bleachers’. This event was Ricky Antonoff’s first time performing with his son, who thanked the crowd for joining them for the night. With the new album set to be the collective’s most quintessentially “them” release yet, fans can expect to see Bleachers in a variety of locations in the coming months. The band recently announced their biggest headlining show at Madison Square Garden in New York on Friday, October 4.
In other news, Jack Antonoff recently hit back at critics, including Damon Albarn, who have questioned Taylor Swift’s songwriting ability. The producer defended Swift’s writing and claimed that Albarn’s comments were unfounded, stating: “If you were there…cool…go off. If not…maybe…shut the fuck up?” Antonoff will commence his North American leg of tour at Coachella on April 13. A pre-sale will be available for those who register, with general ticket sales starting on Friday, March 15 at 10 am ET.
