A probe into a murder has been initiated by police following the fatal stabbing of a teenager in a park. The incident happened at West Park in Wolverhampton, at approximately 16:30 GMT, where it is believed the youngster was attacked. Officers are currently investigating the case and are encouraging anyone who has information to come forward. Patrolling in the area will be increased as a result of this incident, according to Ch Supt Richard Fisher.
Paramedics got to the scene first and alerted the police authorities. At the time they arrived, the victim was in a critical condition. Sadly, the person passed away not long after. The victim is yet to be identified and the incident is under enquiry.
“This is a heartbreaking occurrence and such a loss to knife crime,” said Ch Supt Fisher. “Our detectives are working round the clock to trace whoever was responsible and take them into custody as soon as feasible. Over the next few days, we will increase patrols and offer support to the community and everyone who has been affected.”
The location where the incident happened is generally well known for being a family-friendly spot along with dog walking. Every year, a number of similar attacks have occurred across the UK, raising concerns around the rising levels of knife crime and violence among teenagers and young adults
