Metallica has announced a “phase two” vinyl pressings campaign for the remaining albums. Following the successful re-release of their first five albums on coloured vinyl last year, the second phase of 140g special pressings will begin with Garage Inc. on 5 April. This album, which features unique reimaginings of classic tracks by Thin Lizzy and others, will be pressed on limited “Fade To Blue” coloured vinyl. Each subsequent album will follow, including St Anger in May, which will be pressed on “Some Kind Of Orange” vinyl. Death Magnetic will follow in June, pressed on “Magnetic Silver”, and 2016 release Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, containing hits such as Moth Into Flame and Halo on Fire, will finish the series in July, presented on limited edition 180g “Flame Orange” coloured vinyl.
Metallica has a long history of seeking new ways to delight fans and keep their music fresh and accessible. By providing new and unique packaging of their classic albums, the band is continuing that tradition with these special vinyl releases. In a recent interview, drummer Lars Ulrich explained he is just happy that anyone “still streams or buys or steals our records”.
The band shared their latest album, 72 Seasons, last year, which was praised by NME as a “thrilling sonic onslaught”. The subsequent M72 tour took them around the world and allowed them to reconnect with fans old and new. After shows in North America, the band heads to Europe, with the tour culminating in two shows at the Estadio Cívitas Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain.
Metallica fans can purchase the re-released albums on the band’s website, where they can also find images and more details. The special pressings will offer fans a new, collectable way to own classic Metallica albums.
This special vinyl release campaign is a demonstration of Metallica’s ongoing commitment to their music and their fans. As one of the most enduring rock bands of all time, they continue to innovate and thrill audiences with their timeless sound
