Body search case police speak to Muriel McKay killer in Trinidad

The Metropolitan Police have travelled all the way to Trinidad to interrogate one of the killers of Muriel McKay in hopes of finding her body. McKay was abducted in 1969 when kidnappers had mistaken her for Rupert Murdoch’s then-wife. Her husband Alick McKay also worked for Murdoch, and the kidnappers held Muriel, hoping for a £1 million ransom, at a farm in Hertfordshire. Although the kidnapping ultimately failed, her body has never been found, and one of her killers recently confessed to burying her body near a barn.

The police stated that they are still trying to recover McKay’s remains. Detective Superintendent Katherine Goodwin said that the police have reviewed and considered information provided by McKay’s family, and now they are determining the next steps of their investigation. They have to figure out whether it is appropriate to carry out another search to find her body.

Because of her connection with a powerful media magnate, the disappearance of McKay garnered significant attention from the press. Nizamodeen Hosein, who now lives in Trinidad after being incarcerated, was one of the men involved in the kidnapping. Arthur Hosein, his brother and co-conspirator, passed away in 2009. The police are currently speaking with Nizamodeen Hosein in Trinidad.

McKay’s grandson, Mark Randolph Dyer, wants the police to conduct another search in Hertfordshire after a previous failed attempt in April 2022. Despite the extensive searching, there is a belief that the police did not look in the correct location. Hosein denied killing her but admits to being in the room when she died, stating that she had a seizure when she saw them on television
