Lindsay Lohan confirms ‘Freaky Friday’ sequel with Jamie Lee Curtis

Lindsay Lohan has confirmed that a sequel to the 2003 comedy drama Freaky Friday is in the works after teasing the possibility over the past year. Speaking to Andy Cohen on SiriusXM, Lohan said, “It’s happening,” but offered no further details. Lohan starred in the film alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, who also expressed her interest in a sequel last year. The original followed a mother and daughter who swap bodies and was based on a 1976 film of the same name starring Jodie Foster.

Lohan was on the set of another project when Curtis first raised the possibility of a sequel. Speaking on Fallon, Lohan said, “Let’s just take the fact that I was on set…and Jamie Lee Curtis writes…and you just get excited and distracted immediately…” However, despite her enthusiasm for the project, she said she had to bring herself back to reality and focus on her current project.

Lohan has starred in a number of high-profile roles over the years, including The Parent Trap and Mean Girls. She made a cameo appearance in the recent Mean Girls reboot by Tina Fey, which received a three-star review from NME. The review called the film a “perfectly entertaining” rehash of the original that lacked the “sparky, snarky confidence of Regina George.”

The Freaky Friday sequel has been a long time in coming, but with the two original stars on board and Lohan confirming that the project is finally moving forward, fans of the beloved mother-daughter switcheroo comedy can finally breathe a sigh of relief
