Alternative rock band Paramore has announced a special 12” vinyl for Record Store Day featuring David Byrne covering their track, ‘Hard Times.’ The exclusive release will feature Paramore covering the Talking Heads’ song, ‘Burning Down The House,’ as a B-side. The vinyl will be an “extremely limited” edition for Record Store Day in 2024.
Byrne confirmed the news on his X/Twitter account, stating that he learned and recorded Paramore’s song ‘Hard Times’ with a horn section. “This was fun!” he tweeted. Paramore and co, who are Record Store Day Ambassadors for 2024, will also be releasing their ‘Re: This Is Why’ 2023 “almost” remix album on vinyl for the first time ever, on 2LP Ruby + Bone vinyl and single black vinyl.
Both vinyl editions will be available for purchase at all participating Record Store Day shops on April 20. The album was earlier announced by A24 last year as a tribute album to the Talking Heads ‘Stop Making Sense,’ featuring 16 artists sharing their own covers of Talking Heads classics, including Paramore’s version of ‘Burning Down The House.’
Byrne seems to be a fan of Paramore and had attended their show at Madison Square Garden in New York early last year. He was also photographed with the band backstage before their performance.
Paramore recently released a music video for ‘Thick Skull’ and spoke about their future as a band. The video was directed by Turnstile frontman Brendan Yates, who also directed the video for their previous single, ‘This Is Why.
