A man has been charged with murder and attempted murder in connection with an incident in Worcester that resulted in a 61-year-old woman’s death and another woman suffering serious injuries. The police discovered Wendy Francis at a property in Haresfield Close after receiving a report at approximately 8:30 pm on the 25th of September. Ms Francis passed away after sustaining fatal injuries, and the second victim remains in the hospital in stable condition. The accused has been identified as 50-year-old Damian Homer, who also lives in Haresfield Close.
West Mercia Police informed the public that the incident is currently being treated as an isolated case, with no risk to anyone else. Det Ch Insp Leighton Harding of the police’s murder investigation unit made a statement that he would deploy extra law enforcement to guarantee that the situation was being investigated appropriately. The accused is scheduled to appear in court today, the 27th of September, in Kidderminster.
Ms Francis’ family released a statement expressing their sadness at the news of her death and praised her for being one in a million. “Wendy will be hugely missed,” the family said. “She was one in a million and much-loved”. Following Ms Francis’ tragic loss of life, the killing has caused widespread upset in the local community. The police are calling for anyone with information that could be significant to come forward and help them with their inquiry.
