Glastonbury Festival organizers have announced that 20 pairs of tickets to this year’s festival are up for grabs in a Crowdfunder campaign. The fundraising campaign aims at raising emergency financial aid for individuals impacted by conflict. The precautionary measures are in place to support several charities that work in conflict zones, including the British Red Cross, Oxfam, and War Child. Each entry for the prize draw costs £10, with no upper entry limit. The winners will be announced on Thursday, March 28, at 12:00 PM.
The charities hope to assist in delivering humanitarian aid to the people who require it the most. The drawn proceeds from the ticket sales will go towards a worthy cause. Furthermore, contenders will be given a chance to embrace the lively spirit of Glastonbury Festival awaiting them this year. The Crowdfunder has reached 93% of its £350,000 goal, prompting organizers to revise their target, which had initially been £100,000. Oxfam said that the donations will be channeled into its emergency response fund, which backs up people in Ukraine and the Democratic Republic of Congo. War Child is currently working in 14 countries, including Syria, Afghanistan, Gaza, and the DRC, to ensure safety, mental health support, child rights, and education.
The British Red Cross is working toward their “Disaster Fund,” with donations from the ticket auction. They are presently reaching out to help out relief efforts in Yemen and Gaza. In 2023, Glastonbury set records by donating £3.7 million to various charities such as Greenpeace, Red Cross Israel, Oxfam, WaterAid, War Child, Refugee Council, and Safe Passage UK. The Festival will take place from June 26th to the 30th
