Variety reports that if ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ TV series gets renewed for a third season, showrunners Patrick McKay and JD Payne are reportedly already working on an outline for the series. Although the writing rooms are not open for Season 3 yet, the showrunners are reportedly working on the overarching story for it behind the scenes.
Last year, due to the SAG-AFTRA actors’ and WGA writers’ strike Season 2 of ‘The Rings of Power’ was cut short. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) had prohibited writer-producers from taking part in any writing-based activities during the strike per the rules, this includes making decisions on set. Non-writing producers and other crew members oversaw production for the UK-based shoot.
There is currently no confirmed release date for Season 2, but it is anticipated to stream in 2024. In light of the work surrounding a potential third season at the moment, Amazon must be thrilled with the performances of Seasons 1 and 2. The LOTR series’ first season was hugely successful, garnering widespread critical acclaim and undoubtedly increasing the hype for fans anticipating season 2.
Overall, fans and TV enthusiasts alike have high hopes for what will come from ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’, and it’s exciting to see the showrunners plan for a potential third season while fans are eagerly anticipating the premiere of season two
