Jenny from famous South Korean pop girl group BLACKPINK has made history as the second solo K-pop artist with 1 billion views on YouTube. Her music video for “Solo,” which was launched back in 2018, hit this mark on February 29. Previously Jennie and the rest of the BLACKPINK members crossed a billion views with hits like “Ddu-du Ddu-du” and “Boombayah.”
Psy’s “Gangnam Style” was the first ever video to cross the billion views mark back in December 2012. Jisoo from BLACKPINK has recently launched her own solo record label, named Blissoo, just like Jennie and Lisa. Jisoo described this move as her new start, dedicated to bringing joy and happiness.
The rest of the BLACKPINK members launched Odd Atelier (OA) and LLOUd following YG Entertainment’s announcement stating all members of the group would not be renewing their individual contracts with the agency. Rosé, the fourth member of BLACKPINK, has yet to reveal plans as a solo artist, but recently teased a new song called “vampirehollie ” on Instagram.
In December 2023, all four BLACKPINK members “signed an exclusive contract for group activities” with YG Entertainment after months of negotiations. The agency has clarified that the girl group will be releasing new albums and embarking on world tours as part of their new contract
