Former Blink-182 member Tom DeLonge has co-written a new sci-fi novel called Trinity with collaborator AJ Hartley, set to hit shelves on 11 June. Set in 1962, the book is based around a supposed UFO event near a nuclear testing ground and will be published by DeLonge’s company To the Stars Media, distributed by Simon & Schuster. DeLonge revealed that he and Hartley wanted to capture the mood at the time of “young people who are struggling to find a sense of themselves and are… battling for a sense of self and purpose”. In a statement, To the Stars Media described how Trinity revolves around Van Lopez and his brother Andy, who live in the Nevada town of Trinity near a military base serving the nuclear testing grounds.
While Blink-182 is no longer fronted by DeLonge, the musician has kept his creative juices flowing since his departure, currently working with collaborator AJ Hartley on the Sekret Machine series, which is centred around UFOs – the series will be adapted into a TV show. Alongside writing, DeLonge has also been interested in making a Taylor Swift-style Blink-182 concert movie. In a recent interview with Cinema Blend, DeLonge talked about the possibility of such a film, saying: “We’ve talked about doing something on this next tour that we just launched, like, today. We’ve definitely talked about versions. You know, Taylor is a phenomenon. She can demand ticket sales. You and I both know how hard it is to get people to want to go to a movie theatre.”
