Ray Winstone has admitted that sometimes he stars in films he doesn’t “want to do” so he can “pay the rent.” The 67-year-old actor said in a recent interview that he does films he doesn’t necessarily want to do, but does them anyway because he has not worked in a little while and needs to pay his bills. The actor is best known for his work in projects such as Sexy Beast, The Departed, King Arthur, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Despite sometimes having to appear in films he doesn’t particularly enjoy making, his career continues to see him take on roles in exciting new projects. Winstone’s upcoming film, Damsel, is set to be released on Netflix on March 8, while he is also set to star in The Gentlemen, a new Netflix series from Guy Ritchie due to be released on March 7.
The Gentlemen will introduce audiences “to a new slice of the world initially brought to life in Ritchie’s 2020 film of the same name,” according to a description from Netflix. While the characters in the upcoming TV show will be entirely different from the movie, The Gentlemen will have all the same bite – along with some fresh tricks up its well-tailored sleeve, as the new teaser trailer reveals.
The plot of The Gentlemen follows the story of the Duke of Halstead, Eddie Horniman, the estranged son of an English aristocrat who finds himself embroiled in a world of criminality. Specifically, he is drawn into career criminal Bobby Glass’ industrial cannabis empire on the East End of London. Meanwhile, Crawl’s Kaya Scodelario stars as Susie Glass, Bobby’s ruthless and effortlessly fashionable daughter, who handles the day-to-day business of the family’s drug operation
