Acclaimed composer Bear McCreary has announced the upcoming release of his solo album, “The Singularity”. The album will feature a range of accomplished artists including Rufus Wainwright, System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Ben Weinman, Slash and Corey Taylor, among others. With a release date set for May 10, “The Singularity” is previewed by its lead single, “Type III”, featuring Wainwright.
McCreary’s official website provides further insight into the forthcoming album, confirming the involvement of additional musicians including Joe Satriani, Kim Thayil from Soundgarden, Scott Ian from Anthrax, Jens Kidman from Meshuggah, and Blue Öyster Cult’s Buck Dharma, among many others. An accompanying graphic novel will also be released alongside the album, entitled “The Singularity,” which McCreary describes as an epic rock concept album.
“I was obsessed, even then, with melding my love of hard rock, symphonic film scores, and dramatic storytelling into a cohesive whole, laying the groundwork for what would become a concept album, graphic novel, and multimedia concert experience,” says McCreary, who first began writing “The Singularity” at the age of 15.
McCreary is known for composing scores for numerous films, TV series and games, including “Godzilla: King of the Monsters”, “Battlestar Galactica”, “The Walking Dead,” “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power”, “God of War”, and “Call of Duty: Vanguard”, among others. He is set to perform “The Singularity” live at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, May 12
