Liam Gallagher says he can see Noel “not looking back in anger”, offers to “send him a box of chocolates” for Oasis reunion

In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Liam Gallagher reflected on the circumstances that led to the split of the Britpop band, Oasis, in 2009. He said that the drunken argument he had with his brother and fellow band member, Noel Gallagher, backstage at a show in Paris wasn’t enough to make them call it quits. Liam offered to “send him a box of chocolates” to reunite and stated that he can see Noel “not looking back in anger” over the argument that caused the split.

Although Liam is open to reuniting, he made it clear that he won’t be the one to initiate contact and that if Noel wants to get back on the same page they need to speak. “He’s the one who split the band up, so he’ll be doing the calling, and if there is no calling, we won’t be getting back together,” Liam said. In regards to Noel’s recent split from his wife Sarah MacDonald, Liam thinks that he may be more inclined to forgive and forget. He thinks that Noel’s situation may make him “look back” and go, “Do you know what? I was really mean to my little brother. Now it is time for me to send him a box of chocolates”.

Liam is excited about the possibility of an Oasis reunion, saying “I don’t ‘hold grudges” and thinks it would be great so he could revert to singing half of the setlist. However, last year Noel claimed that Liam was too much of a “coward” to follow through with the reunion idea and that it was only a way to “get people’s hopes up”. Despite this, Noel caught fans attention in January when he claimed that he would “never say never” to the idea. However, in light of Noel’s recent refusal to partake in Oasis events, Liam revealed that although he did call Noel’s management team and put an offer on the table for an Oasis reunion, Noel turned it down.

Alongside the upcoming ‘Definitely Maybe’ tour, which features a headline slot at Reading & Leeds, Liam is also releasing a collaborative album with Stone Roses guitarist John Squire. They recently sold out their joint tour in just 30 seconds. The two also announced they would be performing at Glastonbury in 2024, but Liam later denied making the announcement.

Despite the constant speculation, it seems like it will ultimately be up to Noel to pick up the phone and give Liam a call. Fans will have to wait and see if the brothers can put the past behind them and give us the Oasis reunion that we’ve all been hoping for
