Emily Blunt gifted co-star Cillian Murphy a pillow on the set of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, because she felt he needed rest. However, things didn’t go as planned. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Blunt revealed that Murphy had an accident while using the pillow. “He woke up in the middle of the night, went to fluff himself back down in the pillow, misjudged where it was, the cool side, flipped it, and smashed his head open on the bedside table. So he came to work, and they had to glue his head shut,” she said.
Murphy confirmed the story and explained that he had called the makeup artist to fix the issue. “I was a bit shocked, you know! I was having a great sleep, and I had this amazing pillow, strange bed, strange table, and bang,” he said. He added that the incident didn’t make it to the film as the makeup artist had covered it all up.
Oppenheimer, which details the creation of the atomic bomb during World War II, was released in 2021 and has been enjoying critical and box office success. It garnered seven BAFTA wins, including Best Film, and is expected to win Best Picture at the Oscars, where it has been nominated for 13 awards. It also won the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, with acting wins for Murphy and Robert Downey Jr
