Legendary DJ Carl Cox is set to headline the upcoming opening of a new superclub in Riccione, Italy. The new club marks a global expansion of Space Ibiza and is described as a “new generation” yet maintains the same layout of the iconic Ibiza club including the Arena, Garden, Terrace, and Lounge. The 15-year-long resident of Space Ibiza is expected to unveil the return of Space in its new home of Italy with a live set. Space Riccione will start with a day-to-night “opening fiesta” on June 2, and tickets are yet to go on sale.
Space Ibiza closed in 2016 after almost three decades of parties with a closing party that saw sets from Maceo Plex, Tale of Us, Darius Syrossian, and of course Carl Cox. In a 2019 interview with Mixmag, Carl Cox shared: “If we do get an opportunity to get that license, then I will say 100% that the club’s coming back.” The renowned owner of the Space brand, Pepe Roselló, shared his excitement about continuing the 27 years of Space Ibiza’s history in Riccione, an iconic place that represents entertainment. Roselló mentioned the main characteristics of all their events, stating love for music and mutual respect.
Fabrizio De Meis, COO of Space Riccione, shares his vision of a state-of-the-art club-meets-festival venue for the new Space era. “We’re excited to reveal our vision of a state-of-the-art, club-meets-festival venue.” The new era of Space is expected to be an extraordinary experience, according to De Meis.
