The actress took a two-year hiatus from the entertainment industry due to a scandal involving her ex-boyfriend Kang Jong-hyun, who was alleged to have been involved in “illegal activities.” According to Park, the past years have been “a long and dark tunnel.” She added that it took her time to realize and admit that she made a mistake. However, she said that apologizing and promising to do better as an actor are not something to be shameful about.

In an interview with The Korea Times, Park Min-young said that working on “Marry My Husband” has been like medicine. She hoped that the show would help her “break the ice and come out to the world,” saying that she “can’t hide forever.” She added that the drama is meaningful because it helped her go back to the mindset when she first started acting.

The theme of “second chances” in the K-drama has resonated with Park Min-young. She said that after going through a huge issue, she wanted to genuinely cherish herself if given a new chance. She also noted that the show’s popularity outside of South Korea shows that it can “overcome language barriers.”

“Marry My Husband” is available on Prime Video internationally, except for South Korea and China. NME gave the series a glowing four-star review, calling it “deliciously melodramatic” and “immensely addictive.
