English band Portishead will release a new version of their live album, ‘Roseland NYC Live’, to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The album was recorded in New York City’s Roseland Ballroom in November 1998. The reissue, named ‘Roseland NYC Live 25’, will include previously unreleased tracks such as ‘Undenied’ and ‘Numb’ from the concert film and the full-length performance of ‘Western Eyes,’ which was played during the movie credits.
Moreover, the reissue of the album will include the original recordings of ‘Sour Times’ and ‘Roads,’ replacing those from earlier gigs. The album’s production was overseen by Portishead’s Adrian Utley, who stated that the show was meant to launch the band’s second album. Great care was taken over the show’s orchestrations and filming, and it preceded a year-long world tour, he recalled.
The anniversary edition of the album reached music streaming platforms on the album’s anniversary on November 2. The physical reissue, consisting of a limited edition double-LP set on solid red vinyl with a gatefold sleeve, a double-sided foldout poster, and a recreation of the guest ‘backstage’ sticky pass used at the concert, was released on April 26. The CD version comes with a 12-page booklet and the venue guest ‘backstage’ sticky pass.
The Watershed Cinema in Bristol will show the Roseland NYC Live in full to coincide with the physical release on April 26. Moreover, the Portishead frontwoman Beth Gibbons will release her debut solo album, ‘Lives Outgrown,’ in May. The album’s lead single, ‘Floating On A Moment’ is available for streaming. It features songs recorded over a period of 10 years, and according to a press release, ‘Lives Outgrown’ is set to be Gibbons’ most personal work till date. It sees her reflect on the changes she has undergone in her personal life and create a more optimistic outlook
