Bobby Shmurda apologises for altercation at London nightclub

Bobby Shmurda has expressed regret over his actions following an altercation that took place at Proud Late nightclub in London after the venue allegedly failed to pay him for his performance. Early on Sunday, February 18, footage surfaced online of the rapper shouting at security guards and threatening to attack them. TMZ reported that Shmurda spat on an audience member during the altercation after which he was removed from the venue. However, no charges have been filed against him.

After leaving the club, Shmurda uploaded a video apology on social media, stating that he was sorry for what happened at Club Proud Late and that he came to perform but was not paid on time as per their agreement. He admitted performing beyond what was required of him, which probably led to an altercation. He apologized to anyone offended and those who got hurt in the process.

This was Shmurda’s first appearance in London since his release from jail in February 2021, where he served time for conspiracy to murder, reckless endangerment, drug possession, and gun possession, among other charges. The rapper is well-known for his viral hits such as “Hot N****” and “Bobby Bitch.”

In the video that he posted on social media, one of Shmurda’s team members can be heard talking to the event promoters and advising them not to hold events if they cannot pay the performers. Although the event promoters responded that there was little they could do because they were not in control of the situation, Shmurda’s team reiterated that it was not acceptable.

Shmurda has been an advocate of the campaign calling for a ban on rap lyrics being used in criminal trials. He has openly supported New York’s Rap On Trial bill, calling for its adoption across the United States
