The two-day 2024 Hanteo Music Awards saw K-pop groups NCT Dream, SEVENTEEN, and Stray Kids bagging the grand prizes. The award ceremony took place on February 17-18 at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in South Korea and was hosted by TVXQ’s Changmin. The awards were determined based on the global Hanteo Charts for the year 2023, accounting for 50% of the criteria, along with global voting scores and judging scores.
On the second day of the ceremony, NCT Dream took home the Best Artist award, SEVENTEEN won Best Album, and Stray Kids won Best Performance. The grand prize for Best Song went to IVE for ‘I AM.’ However, it was aespa who emerged as the biggest winners of the night, winning three separate awards: Artist of the Year, Best Trend Leader, and Global Generation Icon.
Other winners included ATEEZ, RIIZE, BTS members V, Jimin, Jungkook for their solo work, and more. Awards were given out on both days of the event, with Emerging Artist and Popular Global Group going to VIVIZ and Kep1er on Day 1 and Blooming Performance Group and Legend Rock Icon going to 8TURN and YB on Day 2.
The ceremony acknowledged various genres of music, with categories such as Favorite Band Performance, Favorite Crossover Group, and Special Award – Trot, among others. The Hanteo Music Awards are looked upon as a significant recognition for K-pop artists as they are based on the actual sales figures of albums and singles
