Watch Air kick off their ‘Moon Safari’ anniversary tour

Air’s ‘Moon Safari’ anniversary tour has officially begun with the duo performing in Rouen, France. The tour marks the first time Air will play ‘Moon Safari’ in its entirety in celebration of the album’s 25th anniversary last year. The band also played other hits from their repertoire including ‘Cherry Blossom Girl’ and ‘High School Lover’. Footage from the show can be viewed on the Air Twitter feed.

Air’s extensive tour will take them through Europe and the UK, with a stop planned at the Halifax Piece Hall. This show was recently added to the tour, which already included two performances in London. Tickets for the tour are available here.

The setlist for Air’s ‘Moon Safari’ 25th anniversary tour is split into three sections. The first section includes classics such as ‘Sexy Boy’ and ‘All I Need’. The second includes ‘Radian’ from the ‘Pocket Symphony’ album and other hits like ‘Venus’. The encore features ‘Alone in Kyoto’ and ‘Electronic Performers’.

Air’s last album was released in 2012 and band member Nicolas Godin has spoken critically of making a new album. In a 2019 interview with NME, he said: “We have to be careful because Air is magic and we don’t want to ruin it by doing a substandard album. If we’re able to find that magic, we’ll go into the studio. But if not, we’ll move aside and let other people make those magic records.”

Air has generated significant buzz since the release of their breakthrough album ‘Moon Safari’ in 1998. With hits like “All I Need” and “Sexy Boy,” Air’s dreamy, French electronic pop sound is instantly recognisable. The band has been on hiatus since the release of their 2012 album “Le Voyage Dans La Lune”, and fans will be eager to hear what they have in store next
